Rory’s
background encompasses writing, event and project management, and website
design, applying a subtle personal touch to each client project. His expertise
with the written word is evident even when composing complex communications for
clients such as San Jose-based solar power company SunPower Corporation, where
Rory not only authored numerous articles but also helped design and launch the
company’s intranet site.
In his client
work with Hewlett-Packard, Rory serves as chief editor for two company-wide
newsletters, allowing him to don the many hats of writer, manager and editor all
at once. With Symantec, Rory has been busy planning the company’s annual Senior
Leader Meeting, where 200 of the company’s top executives will come together for
a two-day summit later this month. In recognition of his many talents and
versatility, ROI Communication recently tapped Rory to serve as our own Internal
Communications Manager – no small honor for a company made up entirely of
communicators.
Known for
near-maniacal attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a
contagious “can-do” attitude, Rory managed staff members at the well-known Bacco
Ristorante in Boston’s historic North End. While there, he ran training
programs, negotiated with vendors, and developed new products.
At Score!
Educational Center in Wellesley, Mass., Rory provided structured, educational
guidance for children, ages four to 14. At the National Endowment for Democracy
in Washington, D.C., he authored articles charting the spread of democracy
worldwide. He also upgraded, maintained and wrote for the Endowment’s website.
Rory graduated
cum laude from Colgate University with a double major in history and political
science and workshops his fiction at grub street, inc., Boston’s only
independent writing center.
